New Year’s Eve

I don’t know about you, but I always get a little verklempt come New Year’s Eve (as I think many of us do) because it’s just such a symbolic time of change, rich in nostalgia and the warm fuzzy holiday feels; but this year, I’ve found myself even more in my feelings than I’ve ever been before.

I’ve overcome a great deal of personal challenges this year. It wasn’t easy. I will go so far as to say that I survived 2015, more than I lived it; but with each obstacle, I became stronger, better, faster (okay, not faster), and I learned to be very proud of who I am, and the people in my life.

I can honestly say, although in the thick of things, it was hard to acknowledge, it has been an amazing year despite it all, because alongside all the crap that it threw my way, a lot of great stuff happened too!

The greatest gifts I could have possibly received this year are that of realizing that I’m a much more resilient person than I ever imagined myself to be. I’ve finally learned to trust that I will overcome, I will thrive, and I’ve see just how much of a rock I am to my family.

It’s a good feeling to know that I’m deserving of this status. I don’t think I had ever felt that I was until this year. I know now that I deserve to be happy, not just about my body, but about my choices as a mother, a wife, and most importantly, a woman.

Difficult times may seem a little (ok, hell of a lot) confusing, but trusting yourself to make sense of that confusion is definitely something to be proud of, and I have finally been able to accomplish it.

Although life if full of grey areas, at least some things can still be black and white, and my New Year’s Eve dress from City Chic is just that—black, white and elegant all over! I’m totally obsessed with the lace detail, and its playfully pleated sheer skirt!

Paired with my fabulous feather bolero, a dazzling statement necklace, and delicate, handmade crystal earrings from Cristy Ellen K

A pretty pair of leather gloves…

And printed tights from Addition Elle, with my beautiful, black, sparkly, T-strap pumps that I designed from Shoes Of Prey, I am ready for that ball to drop, and to welcome in the new year, surrounded by the people I love the most!

Happy New Year’s Eve, loves!!! Bring on 2016!!!

French Curves: SUÈDE

Bonjour !!! It’s the 16th of the month again, which means it’s time for the French Curves Challenge – an outfit photo challenge with the French touch, created by the beautiful, Vanoue, of The Curvy and Curly Closet

If you don’t speak French, fear not, my dears! As always, an English translation will follow, just scroll on down!!!

The Curvy and Curly Closet

And now for the English version!

The theme this month: SUEDE

With the 70s trend back in full force, suede is everywhere in fashion right now!

Rich in texture, it brings a chic and luxurious element to your wardrobe; and even if we tend to associate it with the 70s, when mixed with more modern pieces, suede can integrate easily into any outfit.

For the challenge, I chose two different pieces — this pretty faux-suede jacket (ok yes, I’m cheating, but shhhhh!) from Penningtons, and these cute, thrifted little yellow suede loafers from Figure First, which are second hand, but in perfect shape.

Together, with an ultra modern combo of this striped dress from Addition Elle, and my fave pair of jeans…

Accessories that contrast, like this thick chain necklace from Ready To Stare, and my classic Louis Vuitton bag

These suede pieces leave the 70s behind in exchange for a contemporary and super charming look!
