Every now and again, a new trend hits the scene that manages to combine style and comfort in the best possible way. The latest of these trends to really tickle my fancy: athleisure.
It’s a little sporty, a little fancy, and a lot perfect. The combination of athletic pieces like baggy sweats & sneakers, with more luxurious fabrics, all topped off with some bling just speaks to my soul in a way that very few styles do.
These joggers from ASOS are probably among the most interesting pieces in my wardrobe right now. I mean, faux sweatshirt arms are both the strangest and best thing I’ve seen in a long time. Like, really though… they’re super weird, but I’m kind of obsessed.
Also, they are the perfect thing for rocking with a dressy, structured crop top as an unapologetic homage to the very apologetic 90s hoodie-around-the-waist style from my teens that I wore very strategically to hide my exposed belly from a society that didn’t approve of it, and that I hadn’t yet learned to just tell to fuck off.
The sweats, this gorgeous crop top, and soft jersey longline vest are the ultimate pieces for a little fall warmth and layered style.
Paired with my beloved gold chain necklace from Ready To Stare, hoop earrings, and these sexy nude sneakers from Aldo, this look is the definition of what athleisure is all about, with the added bonus of challenging societal beauty standards as well.
Athleisure may not be for everyone, but it is definitely one of my fave fall trends! It combines all of the things my fashion loving soul likes best, with the comfort of athletic wear. These days, there are very few things I value more when it comes to how I dress, than comfort that requires no sacrifice, or limitations on style, and athleisure is definitely the business!

When I’m in the mood to keep things casual, I love a cheeky graphic tee! So, when Addition Elle hooked me up with this What The F* T-shirt, I knew I’d make good use of it!
The “F” in What The F* of course, stands for Fashion (yes, fashion, you potty mouthed fiends… just kidding I love you), but the ability to interpret that F* in any way you want is basically the whole point!
Paired with my fave distressed jeans, a thick gold chain and my Fenty Puma slides, this What The Fashion tee says it all.
Although I would love to see more size diversity in Addition Elle campaigns, I do love their concept of Fashion Democracy, and I agree with them, and this tee on the fact that fashion is something that is totally up for interpretation!

Have you ever had an outfit you just feel like you could literally wear every single day and never get sick of it?
That’s how I’ve been feeling about this look for the past few weeks. Basically, I call it my uniform now because I wear it so often. It got to the point where, the other day, I got ready to go out and didn’t wear it, and my kids were like, oh! Wow! You changed!!!
It’s bad. I mean, don’t get me wrong… It’s good, really good… But it’s getting in the way of my style evolution, and I’m pretty sure my neighbours, whom are wonderful people, are secretly judging me every time I walk out of the house wearing the same thing.
Of course, I change the bottoms around all the time, wearing these cute, inexpensive Walmart jeggings, distressed skinny jeans, and jorts interchangeably; but the overal look remains the same— kind of like a super chic hair stylist who definitely charges an arm and a leg for a blowout, and you probably couldn’t even afford a cut from unless you were a Kardashian.
(Note to self: learn to cut hair so you can charge an arm and a leg for a haircut, and become the Kardashian’s hairdresser. Legally change your name to just Cynthïa, with the two dots because it looks cooler, and start your own hashtag… Something catchy… Like, #CynthïaWillCutYou or #GetCynthïaed. Maybe both.)
Where was I…? Oh yes! Can we also talk about how cute these Aldo flats are!? At this point in my life, I’ve all but ditched heels completely in lieu of comfort, and needless to say, flats have definitely become an integral part of my wardrobe lately, even more than they used to be; and they definitely look adorable with my outfit!!!
So if you’ve ever had a favourite outfit that has reached repeat offender status, just know that you’re not alone. If you love it, wear it! Wear it every damn day if you want to! Never worry what anyone thinks, because A) once you walk out of the house past your judgy neighbours, chances are that nobody will have seen you in it yet, and B) even if they have, who cares, they’re probably jealous of how cute you look anyway!!!

It’s not everyday you get to dress like Madonna—I mean, for me it isn’t anyway, (although I suppose I could if I really wanted to) but I’m always looking for an excuse!
Imagine my glee upon finding out that the fabulous Beth Ditto, singer, plus size model, and lover of all things vintage, was launching a collection this February; and as a little “aperçu,” had teamed up with none other than Jean Paul Gaultier on a limited edition, collaboration t-shirt dress, featuring his iconic cone-bra bustier, worn by thee original Material Girl herself in the 90s, and whose image is etched permanently in the brains millenials everywhere!
I had to splurge!!! I HAD have one!!!
Not even the most bitterly cold temperatures and blisteringly frigid winds could stop me from showing it off and striking a pose today!
I paired it with some awesome striped tights from Addition Elle, and my vintage Burberry trench…
But this tee is definitely the main attraction…
A little gold bling, and my black patent flatforms sealed this whole look with a sassy little kiss of perfection…
And all I can say is, Vogue.

The Curvy and Curly Closet !

The theme this month: THE STATEMENT NECKLACE
A statement necklace has the power to complete any look.
When you wear one, it’s the first thing everyone sees when they look at your outfit, and as the name suggests, they send a very clear message that you’re fabulous, and I don’t care who knows it!!!
This necklace was hand made by Djénéba, an incredibly talented Malian woman who crafts gorgeous jewelry with materials purchased in her home country.
The meticulous craftsmanship of her jewelry is her greatest passion in life, and it’s very evident if you ever have the chance to visit her “cavern” filled to the gills with sparkling beads which she’s gathered, little by little, with each trip home to Mali to visit her family.
I let the necklace be the star of this outfit, and I paired it with a super simple, chic look, but with enough pizzazz to do it justice.
Simple black leggings, and my sheer, asymmetrical, leopard print tunic by Nadia Aboulhosn for Addition Elle are the perfect pieces to compliment this striking accessory!
And in true Nadia style, a pair of heels put the final touch on the look.
Be sure to check out the statement necklaces on all the other French Curvettes here, as well as on Facebook, and Instagram too!!! Also, remember to use the hashtags #FrenchCurvesOOTD and #FlightOfTheFatGirl on all your style pics!!!

I don’t know about you, but I always get a little verklempt come New Year’s Eve (as I think many of us do) because it’s just such a symbolic time of change, rich in nostalgia and the warm fuzzy holiday feels; but this year, I’ve found myself even more in my feelings than I’ve ever been before.
I’ve overcome a great deal of personal challenges this year. It wasn’t easy. I will go so far as to say that I survived 2015, more than I lived it; but with each obstacle, I became stronger, better, faster (okay, not faster), and I learned to be very proud of who I am, and the people in my life.
I can honestly say, although in the thick of things, it was hard to acknowledge, it has been an amazing year despite it all, because alongside all the crap that it threw my way, a lot of great stuff happened too!
The greatest gifts I could have possibly received this year are that of realizing that I’m a much more resilient person than I ever imagined myself to be. I’ve finally learned to trust that I will overcome, I will thrive, and I’ve see just how much of a rock I am to my family.
It’s a good feeling to know that I’m deserving of this status. I don’t think I had ever felt that I was until this year. I know now that I deserve to be happy, not just about my body, but about my choices as a mother, a wife, and most importantly, a woman.
Difficult times may seem a little (ok, hell of a lot) confusing, but trusting yourself to make sense of that confusion is definitely something to be proud of, and I have finally been able to accomplish it.
Although life if full of grey areas, at least some things can still be black and white, and my New Year’s Eve dress from City Chic is just that—black, white and elegant all over! I’m totally obsessed with the lace detail, and its playfully pleated sheer skirt!
Paired with my fabulous feather bolero, a dazzling statement necklace, and delicate, handmade crystal earrings from Cristy Ellen K…
And printed tights from Addition Elle, with my beautiful, black, sparkly, T-strap pumps that I designed from Shoes Of Prey, I am ready for that ball to drop, and to welcome in the new year, surrounded by the people I love the most!

Joëlle is swooning over suede this fall, and let’s face it, it’s easy to see why!
But no matter which style you like best, one thing is for sure, Addition Elle and Penningtons have really nailed this season’s trends, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for the holidays!!!

Congrats boo!!! You’ve just won a $100 to spend at Penningtons, and $150 from Addition Elle!!! Check your Instagram inbox!!! Yayyy!!!
Fall is undeniably upon us… And with yesterday’s dusting of snow here in Montreal, one could argue that winter is already poking its head out from around the corner — but Jesus fix it! I’m not ready!!!
So to celebrate all those things I love about fall while it’s still here, the changing colours, cool crisp air, (and duhhh) the sweaters (!!!) I teamed up with Addition Elle, Penningtons, and super babe, Joëlle Vaillancourt, who some of you may know from the show Le Cahier (The Booklet) on MAtv, and we picked out our three fave fall trends!
But that’s not all!!! All the falling leaves have gotten us feeling curious, and a little generous too!
So, we’d like to know YOUR fave fall trend, and if you head over to Instagram to vote, you could be eligible* to win our #CurvyFatGiveaway of a fab fall shopping spree of $150 from Addition Elle and $100 from Penningtons!
#1 is not only a fall fave of ours, but it is also 2015’s Pantone colour of the year — Marsala!
#2 is evvverywhere right now — Suede! And it is without question, a big part of every fashionistas fall wardrobe this year, and we love it too!!!
Wear it as the perfect base to an all black, date night look, like I’ve done with these gorgeous faux-suede leggings from Penningtons, for a luxurious, richly textured look that will be sure to add depth to any outfit…
Or as a standout piece, like Joëlle has done with this amazing faux-suede, camel coloured skirt from Addition Elle, for a striking look, rich texture and quirky elegance…
No matter how you wear it, suede definitely brings a lot to the table, and we’re hoping this trend will stick around well though spring so we can continue to have fun with it!
#3 is last but not least, and probably my fave of all — 70s! This trend is reappearing once more, but this time with a very sophisticated elegance about it!
You can rock an empowering androgynous 70s look, like I’ve done with these amazing plaid pants, and printed blouse with elongated cuffs from Penningtons, paired with a long, sleek necklace, and a fantastic faux-fur collared wool trench from Addition Elle, for a look that’s a combination of Eric Foreman and Donna Pinciotti all in one! (If you don’t get that reference, we can’t be friends — just kidding, but it’s on Netflix so go watch… Now!)
You can also do 70s glam, like Joëlle, and rock a great pair of wide leg jeans, like these ones from Penningtons, with a sexy, bell-sleeved top, like this lace crop, and beaded crocheted choker from Addition Elle. Bring on those disco nights!!!
As you can see, the 70s may be a bygone era, but they’re still alive and well in fashion this fall!!!
So, which will it be? Be sure to head over to Instagram to vote on your fave once a day, and follow all the entry rules* for a chance to win a fab fall shopping spree, courtesy of Joëlle, moi, and our amazing sponsors, Addition Elle and Penningtons!

The Curvy and Curly Closet.
And now for the English version!
The theme this month: SUEDE
With the 70s trend back in full force, suede is everywhere in fashion right now!
Rich in texture, it brings a chic and luxurious element to your wardrobe; and even if we tend to associate it with the 70s, when mixed with more modern pieces, suede can integrate easily into any outfit.
For the challenge, I chose two different pieces — this pretty faux-suede jacket (ok yes, I’m cheating, but shhhhh!) from Penningtons, and these cute, thrifted little yellow suede loafers from Figure First, which are second hand, but in perfect shape.
Together, with an ultra modern combo of this striped dress from Addition Elle, and my fave pair of jeans…
These suede pieces leave the 70s behind in exchange for a contemporary and super charming look!

By now, most of you know that the 16th (errr… 21st?) of every month means it’s time for the French Curves Challenge – an outfit photo challenge with the French touch, created by the fabulous, Vanoue, of The Curvy and Curly Closet!
The theme this month: BOYISH!!!
As always, an English translation will follow, so if French isn’t your forte, just scroll on down!
I love the androgynous look. I love how it messes with people’s preconceived notions and blurs the lines of gender. So this month’s “boyish” theme captivated me instantly!
I feel really sexy and strong when I wear masculine looking clothing.
However, I like to throw a few feminine touches into the mix too, just to mess with people!
So, for my boyish look, I chose my fave pair of overalls, from Addition Elle, a super cute alien head crop top from Chubby Cartwheels, with a great jean jacket with French terry sleeves from Penningtons.
For accessories, my pretty, pointy Coach loafers in a neutral colour, a very chic little clutch, and some gold bling.
I loved my look so much that it made me want to show off mah belly, for no other reason than the fact that I felt good in my skin in this outfit!
Be sure to check out the awesomely boyish looks of all the other French Curvettes here, as well as on Facebook, and Instagram too!!! Don’t forget to use the hashtags #FrenchCurvesOOTD and #FlightOfTheFatGirl!!!
