Today, I’m celebrating my heritage and joining up with the French Curves collaboration!!! This is the monthly outfit photo challenge with the french touch, which takes place each 16th of the month, and was founded by the beautiful, and always so chic, Vanoue of The Curvy and Curly Closet.
But fear not, my Anglo loves! I’ve summarized it in English for you, because I wouldn’t want you to miss out!
The theme of this month’s challenge is GRAOU, or, as you’re probably more familiar with… RAWR!!!
I wear a lot of leopard print. Whether my outfit is super sexy, or conservative, a little leopard has the ability to lend a certain sense of animalism to anything it touches.
So I went with one of my favourite pieces – a pretty, black & red leopard print bomber from Addition Elle.
To have some fun with the theme, I paired it with an amazing snake print skirt, also from Addition Elle.
And because everyone knows that the secret lies in the details, the cherry on top of this animal print cake, is definitely an adorable leopard print necklace from Aldo, which compliments perfectly, the African bronze bracelet I’ve chosen to go with it!
Be sure to check out all the other gorgeous, plus size, Franco bloggers!

Et alors, sans attendre un moment de plus, ça me done beaucoup de plaisir de vous annoncer que je suis maintenant une participante dans le French Curves Challenge, créé par la belle, et toujours si chic, Vanoue, de The Curvy and Curly Closet !!!

Bisous mes amours !!! Ooh la la !!!

I’m a very friendly girl. I don’t throw shade. I’m a lover, not a fighter. I avoid confrontation like the plague. I respect even my adversaries, and I don’t seek revenge… But sometimes you need to show your haters how wrong they are.
What I mean to say is… Sometimes a b*tch just needs to get put in her place!!! Haha!
They need Screw that! SHE needs to know that she will never be better than me because she has an ugly soul, and while she’s talking karma, she’s the one who karma just came back to bite. 😘 (I almost never use Emojis in my posts, but girl, this one’s for you!)
So don’t hate me because I’m beautiful (yes YOU, I know you’re reading this). Love me, because you tried to be me and failed, and that must mean I’m pretty fantastic. 😋 (Oops, there I go again! Hahaaa!)
You need to love how hot I look in this fabulous midi dress from Zelie For She.
Love how crazy dope I look in my earrings from Cristy Ellen K!
Love how sexy I look in the the most absolutely amazing plus size anklets ever, from Ready to Stare! (No but seriously, I know you you’re a fat girl too, so you might wanna know… Just tryna help tho!)
So ladies, don’t ever let anyone try and bring you down!!! Show them how much better you are!!! Rise above it at brush it off… But never be afraid to remind them how ugly their souls truly are, for that is the only way to help them. Let God take care of the karma!
In Haitian Creole we say ‘Wap konn Jòj cherie’ – you’ll get what’s coming to you! Actually, you just did. 😉 (Last one, I promise! Haha!)
I’ve always loved vintage clothing; and there are so many treasures to be found in thrift stores, but stumbling upon great pieces that fit, especially when you’re plus sized, can be tricky.
When I discovered online thrifting for the first time recently (have I been living under a rock?) it was a real breath of fresh air. No more sifting through racks in search of gold amongst the pebbles… It was all right there in front of me, just a click away at divaXpress!
With sizes ranging from small to 3X, as well as accessories and shoes, divaXpress is my new favourite way to thrift!
I was lucky enough to be able to pick out three pieces, and I fell in love with them!!
The first was this fabulous, hunter green coat, reminiscent of every Canadian girl’s mum’s winter getup in the 90s.
Next, was this totally incredible, sequins covered, beaded, rhinestone bedazzled jean jacket, that somehow reminded me of something out of a tacky, old-school country music video, yet I just couldn’t live without! I mean… It’s so awesome!
Loving how well it pairs with my thigh-high boots from SexyPlus, too… Especially a foot deep in the snow! Hehee!
Remember, you need to act fast when you find something you love, because just like with regular thrifting, when it comes to the online variety, the good stuff sells quickly! New pieces are usually posted daily, so there is always something new to check out! Happy online thrifting!!!

Out of their summer slumbers come the cable knits, the quilting, the tweeds and flannels, but the most exciting fall textures this hear have to be the leathers and the faux furs!
How exciting it was to finally see this Michel Studio faux fur vest in store at Addition Elle!!! I had been lusting for it ever since I spotted it in one of this fall’s video promos, and I snapped it up immediately!
I paired it with another one of Addition Elle’s gorgeous decadent, fall pieces – their Love & Legend, black pleather skirt, to really indulge my textural desires.
I opted for a risqué, strappy lace bra from Hips & Curves underneath to add yet another layer to the mix, a sexy pair of laser cut peep toes, gold bangles, dangly earrings, and my fabulous vintage clutch, for an edgy, texture-rich look that will definitely turns up the heat for fall!!!
Well, I’ve been working up the courage to actually get out there and do a photo shoot in swimwear, and believe me, the struggle has been real! So real, that this amazing Sexy Lips midkini from swimsuitsforall.com has been sitting in a drawer since I purchased it at the beginning of the summer.
But I’ve been so inspired by bloggers like Garner Style, who rocked the hell out of a black and white bikini (and made me fall in love with round sunglasses & body chains and was totally the inspiration for my look today), as well as my amazing followers who are so confident and gorgeous, that it was about time that I face my fat girl fears, and do a photo shoot in my very own fatkini!!!
I’ve paired it with two separate, but matching, black, sheer coverup pieces, which I love the idea of, because this way you can cover up less or more depending on the heat of the sun, or how cool the breeze is too. Also, it allows for a more modest option without sacrificing style, if, as was my experience at a beach resort in Haiti, you are required to cover up on top to go into a beachfront restaurant.
No swimwear look would be complete without the right accessories, so I went with my favourite gold, metallic flip flops, big gold hoops, my bangles, (no surprise there) and this fantastic body chain from Forever 21 (note, this is not a plus size piece, so I removed the chain link that connected the two shoulder pieces in the back and replaced it with a longer chain for a better fit).
It really took a lot for me to share these photos with all of you; and I only hope that I can inspire someone who, like me, felt that she wasn’t “perfect” enough to be seen this way. I hope to show that regardless of stretch marks, cellulite, and fat rolls, we can still be beautiful, confident, and enjoy a day at the beach, or an afternoon, poolside like me, in our own backyards, just as any other woman would.
I’m truly am feeling fabulous and empowered in my fatkini and this definitely won’t be my last one!!!
I know, I know, I said that 2014 would be all about stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing vibrant color, but I swear I haven’t broken my promise yet! This look was from before New Years so technically my resolution remains intact… But I am feeling a bit nostalgic. The sting of the rest of winter ahead and the ache of distancing myself from neutral shades is definitely sinking in.
This look is just so appealing to me. It’s basic and understated yet evokes a sexy, sensuous vibe. It’s ideal for an afternoon of shopping, a cup of hazelnut coffee with a good friend or late afternoon beer on a breezy terrace downtown with the girls, boutique bags in hand, of course!
Soft light blue jeggings that hug every curve, with this amazing sweater with chain detail paired with my favorite spiked buckle belt, nude flats and great nude rimmed sunglasses meld together to create a look that is smooth, sophisticated and as clean as freshly washed skin.
There is something delicate and sensual, naked and vulnerable about nudes that no other color can offer. I just may have to give in to my love of neutral tones once spring rolls around again, because going out in the nude is as classy as it gets!
After my last post about my baby boy’s first haircut, I figured I’d stay on topic and let you all in on the ongoing, obsessive debate that goes on in my head all day, everyday. It’s all consuming. One minute I have absolutely decided, without a shadow of a doubt that I WILL cut my hair short again, and my decision is backed by a convincing list of reasons why I cannot live without this cut one minute longer. And then, from the time when I text my hairdresser to the time she replies, I have already changed my mind, and am convinced that I almost just made the biggest mistake ever and that my life would have never been the same had I cut all my hair off once more.
The thing is, I LOVE both looks! I just can’t have them both when I want them and I hate it!!! It’s just not fair! I love the soft flow of my natural curls and the femininity it brings to my face, but I also really dig the edgy, less traditional pixie cut that only takes 5 minutes to wash and style vs. the 2 hours I have to let my hair air dry if I want it to actually look respectable.
And now there is a new worry emerging as I mature… Is the cute, funky haircut still going to have its edge now that I’m in my thirties and a mother of four or will it just look like I’ve given up? And are my long, curly, often frizzy, blonde locks simply too much for a woman my age? On the other hand, should I leave it long because once I get older, shorter will be the way to go and this my last hurrah? Or is this my last chance to have a short haircut that looks trendy and sexy instead of simple and matronly? SOOO many questions, and I am of no help to myself at all!
Gahhh!!! It would seem that spring fever is hitting me early this year. Maybe it’s the break from the cold weather we’ve had lately, or the sun that’s been poking it’s head out to play these past few days, but I need a change! Should I go for it?
