It’s been a fun couple of weeks over on The Penningtons Blog!
In one post, I got to take their 5-way bra for a spin and see how it worked with five different outfits to suit each way.
And then in my latest post, I got to style one piece, three ways — perfect for when you’re packing light on vacation!
I’ve been busy over on The Penningtons Blog! Last week, I styled some fabulous dresses for day and nighttime! (That white one? Yeah, that one is mine now!!!)
So head on over to The Penningtons Blog to see what I’ve been up to, and of course, for all the deets on the amazing ensembles!!!
All looks from Penningtons – here
As many of you know, I have done a few guest blog posts for Penningtons, but this week I started on a new journey with the Penningtons team, and have been hired as weekly contributor to The Penningtons Blog!!!
I’m very proud of my first adventure as weekly contributor – breaking the ever eyeroll-worthy plus size fashion “rule” of never wearing horizontal stripes!
In this post, I styled six different looks, with the help of the ever helpful Penningtons Pointe-Claire staff, and I couldn’t be more proud of how I proved that horizontal stripes are most definitely not off limits to us full figured ladies!!!
So here’s a peek, but to see the full size shots, read what I had to say, and to find out all the deets on these great outfits for yourselves, just head on over to The Penningtons Blog to check out the post, and be sure to check back with them each week to view my latest contribution!!!
I’ve been holding back, but I’m so excited to finally announce to all of you that the Montreal Gazette has done a story on me and my blog!!! Aaaaahhh!!! So crazy!!! Check it out online, or, to my fellow Montrealers, coming up in the Extra section if this Weekend’s paper!!!
I feel so honoured and excited – can’t stop smiling!!! What a fabulous way to celebrate my one year blogiversary!!!
A HUGE thank you to Danielle, for this opportunity, to Fatima, the author of the article, and to Allen, who braved a nasty cold and made it out to do the shoot like a champ!!!
I also have some pics of my own, because I know you’ll all be wondering what I’m wearing!!!
Here I am, ready for my close-up, in my new fave tuxedo blazer and boyfriend jeans from Penningtons, paired with a fab, mauve, sleeveless blouse from Addition Elle, blue suede, alligator textured flats from Aldo, and thee most amazing Ted Baker, springbok clutch that I scooped up thanks to the closet sale of fellow plus size blogger babe, and friend, Thera of Cloud14+ (who’s taste, might I add, is impeccable!).
It’s March!!! And while there’s still a thick layer of snow covering the ground, I am starting to see the light at the end of the long winter tunnel. The days are getting longer, the sun is feeling warmer and just the idea that soon enough we’ll be seeing the spring flowers start to peek up out through the cold ground has me feeling renewed.
So, to celebrate those flowers that will soon making their annual appearance, I’m wearing these fun, floral leggings from Forever21+. They are joyful, bright and just so happen to be extremely comfortable, which is always a bonus!
I’ve paired them with a royal blue, 2-way tank top from Addition Elle, my favorite tone on tone, black leopard print, 3/4 length sleeve jacket from Penningtons, multi-strand, beaded jewelry and my cute, white patent leather Aldo flats for a casual, whimsical look that infuses even more warmth into an already fading winter.
So, this past December, I had already decided upon my new year’s resolution – to stop being afraid of wearing color. I kicked the year off, a little in advance, by wearing a fabulous dress from Monif C. which I featured in a blog post – Color Me Fearless. Soon after, I realized that my photos didn’t show this dress off as well as it deserved, so I wrote another post – Extra Credit, and I showed off just how sublime the print of this dress truly is and promised to take better pictures in the dress- pictures worthy of its greatness.
So here you go, once more… As promised – the most mesmerizing print I’ve ever seen, let alone worn, the most beautiful dress and the most flawless combination of class and vibrant color. I just had to makes sure this dress got the credit it deserved, and not to mention, give credit to the amazing and talented Monif Clarke, of Monif C. for her fantastic designs!!!
Wearing color has long been a somewhat terrifying experience for me… I usually tend to stick mainly to neutrals and very dark shades, which are lovely, timeless and classic but have a certain safety about them that I am often afraid to venture beyond.
So, with 2014 fast approaching, and ideas of resolutions on the tips of everyone’s tongues, I’ve decided on a new years resolution I know I can keep; I WILL CONFRONT MY FEAR OF COLOR!!!
As a matter of fact, why wait till the new year? Why not get started early? And what better way to jump right in than by wearing the whole rainbow all at once? I’ve always said, go big or go home and this gorgeous multi-colored, curve hugging, head turning, envy inducing, covetable piece of wardrobe magic is absolutely the best physical embodiment of the expression!
I have never received so many compliments in my life! My husband (who is Haitian and speaks Creole and French) described the dress as “mal élevé” which directly translates to “rude” or “ill-mannered”, but In the good way; and I couldn’t agree more! This maverick of a cocktail dress, from Monif C, does what it pleases, shows no mercy and the result is epic!
In this fearless frock, paired with a peep-toe, sling back, black patent leather heel (I RARELY wear heels but this dress deserved them) and some simple gold jewelry, I turned heads all night and showed myself that I should be as fearless of color as this dress is of everything in its glorious, rainbow path!
(A shout out to the hubby for looking spiffy, as usual, too!)
