Material (Fat) Girl

It’s not everyday you get to dress like Madonna—I mean, for me it isn’t anyway, (although I suppose I could if I really wanted to) but I’m always looking for an excuse!

Imagine my glee upon finding out that the fabulous Beth Ditto, singer, plus size model, and lover of all things vintage, was launching a collection this February; and as a little “aperçu,” had teamed up with none other than Jean Paul Gaultier on a limited edition, collaboration t-shirt dress, featuring his iconic cone-bra bustier, worn by thee original Material Girl herself in the 90s, and whose image is etched permanently in the brains millenials everywhere!

I had to splurge!!! I HAD have one!!!

Not even the most bitterly cold temperatures and blisteringly frigid winds could stop me from showing it off and striking a pose today!

I paired it with some awesome striped tights from Addition Elle, and my vintage Burberry trench…

But this tee is definitely the main attraction…

Especially with its adorably sexy lace-up back, complete with the printed signatures of Ditto and Gaultier peeking out through the strings!

A little gold bling, and my black patent flatforms sealed this whole look with a sassy little kiss of perfection…

And all I can say is, Vogue.

French Curves: FESTIVAL

It’s the 16th of the month again!!! Time for my French Curves post – an outfit photo challenge with the French touch, created by the gorgeous Vanoue, of The Curvy and Curly Closet

The theme this month: FESTIVAL!!!

If you don’t speak French, worry not, my lovelies!!! As usual, an English translation will follow!

Il est encore le 16 du mois ! C’est a dire, un nouveau French Curves Challenge – la collaboration entre les blogueuses francophones de taille plus, crée par la ravissante Vanoue, de The Curvy and Curly Closet.

And now for my English readers!

Festival season always inspires me! There’s a certain sort of magic this time of year. The style invokes a nostalgia for a bygone era – a time we all associate with love and free-spiritedness.

I did my best to keep my spirit free, (despite the fact that it was raining cats and dogs) by remembering that, historically, some of the most memorable festivals happened when it rained.

For my festival look, I wore a simple and chic black T-shirt dress from Zellie For She, with a pretty, butterfly print, fringed blouse from Addition Elle.

To complete my outfit, I accessorized with a leather bracelet, some extravagant earrings heart-shaped sunnies, a floral ribbon adorned Panama hat and fabulous beaded sandals from ASOS; but that’s not all…

The star of the show hides humbly under my dress (oh go on, get your mind outta the gutter!!!) — a pair of black lace Bandelettes, because it’s impossible to enjoy a festival when a you can think about is the chub rub going on between your thighs, am I right!?!

So, even though the rain was falling on my head at a hundred miles an hour, I channeled my festival spirit!!!

Boobs, Sun & Being A Goddess

Today I’m going to talk about boobs. Yes. Boobs… Boobs and sun.

I was born and raised in Montreal – a city where for a good chunk of the year, the air is so cold it literally hurts your face…

We don’t have palm trees, there are no pineapple plants, and our beaches certainly don’t resemble the white sands & turquoise waves of the Caribbean; but for a few months each summer, we do have sun, and I think, from living in a climate of extremes, we know how to appreciate it better than most!

We swim, we camp, we fish, we bask… Not much keeps us inside in the summertime. After all, we’ve waited months to actually go out without freezing our arses off, right?

And while it isn’t officially summer just yet, the sun is definitely shining down on us, and its warm glow has gotten me feeling kind of frisky!

I know what you’re all thinking… When’s she gonna get to the boobs?

So instead of me getting to them, I’m bringing the boobs to you! Bam!!!

Now if you know me at all, you know that going braless (and often pantless) is far from being a rare occurrence for me, as long as I’m at home or able to throw a winter coat over it, but going visibly braless is public is not something I’m used to.

So when I wore this incredibly elegant and whimsical, sheer maxi dress from the new Zelie For She, Island Vibes collection, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and flaunt my braless titayyys, because boobs are amazing!!!

At first I felt shy. I felt that familiar wave of self-questioning panic wash over me… But after a few moments (and some encouraging words from my loving husband/photographer for the day) I told myself, fuck it! I don’t need to wear a bra to please anyone but myself, and ruining the gorgeous neckline of this dress will make me sad, so screw the bra (at least for today)! My tits are free!!!

Sure I got winked at by an old man on a bike with spectacular calves (which I’m not going to lie, was a bit of a confidence booster even if he was old enough to be my grandpa).

And sure, I “freed” at least one nipple twice (that I know of)… (Explains why I got that wink from gramps!)

But, I felt sexy and alive – my breasts, which have fed my four babies, been pillows for my husband, are to me, symbols of my womanhood. They are truly miraculous entities (or should I say, en-titties), and are nothing to be ashamed of.

They’re no longer perky, they have stretch marks, and imperfections – but they’re mine, and they’re beautiful… And I will never let self-consciousness stop me from being a braless goddess again when I feel like it, especially under the warm sun!

Weekend Essentials

Ok, so I’m not even gonna lie… I spend most of my weekends in pyjamas – not because I’m lazy, but because I can. And I’m cool with that.

But I do love a great outfit for those days when I have no choice but to get out and be productive! The perfect weekend ensemble has got to start with some great basics!

When it comes to effortlessly chic basics, it simply doesn’t get any better than these amazing leggings and this super cute, tank top from SexyPlus Clothing!

I always love breaking fashion “rules” so this combination of black and navy is really fun!

Paired with a cute white blazer from Torrid, some bold, gold jewelry, sunnies, and a great bag, this nautical look has a classic feel; and these fabulous, black patent flatforms from ASOS lend it an edgy twist!

I was definitely feeling myself in these great pieces… So much, in fact, that I may actually make an effort to get dressed again tomorrow!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, loves, I know I will (even if it just started raining here in Montreal)!!!

Spring Break

It’s the last day of spring break here in Montreal (even though, technically it’s not spring yet and still looks and feels like the dead of winter) and I am SO over all this snow… Like… O.V.E.R. I.T.

But, since there’s not much else I can do (besides complain, and curse the part of the world in which I live) I’m doing the next best thing… Going into complete denial. Ha!!!

In my mind, at least for today, spring is sprung, the grass is riz… And the birdies… The birdies, you ask…? I’m pretty sure they’ve mostly all frozen to death, but, there are probably still a few out there… Somewhere.

So here I is – bare-legged and feeling fierce, decked out in the most amazing floral shift dress from ASOS CURVE!

I’ve paired it with some pretty pearl studs going all the way up my ears, and a simple, nude, beaded necklace from Walmart, for an edgy, granny chic look, which, let’s be honest, is perfectly topped off by my pastel purple hair!

Edit

And who cares that I completely destroyed my favorite flats!? (Actually I do… Why did I wear these in the snow? Gahhh!!!)

Seduce Me With Cupcakes

IMG_5672-1
So it was Valentine’s Day last weekend. I haven’t really done anything major to celebrate it over the past few years… Sure, there’s always a gift/chocolate/pink/red candy exchange, and I always get a little something for the kiddies… But this year, the hubby and I felt like, you know what!? We should do it big like we used to!!!

Aaaaand then we remembered that we’d rather just wear jeans and drink beer!!!

So, in lieu of a lavish evening of champagne & dancing, we shared a good meal, watched a Canadiens game at a resto-pub (we won too!) and spent a relaxing night at a hotel!

Sure, the place was packed, our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, and my husband somehow managed to cut both of his hands (seriously, both?) unloading our bags from the car (only this guy could be gushing blood within the first five minutes of our date), and sure, he may or may not have snapped at me for laughing at his ridiculous misfortune… But…

It hit me that day, how the things that make me happy have changed pretty dramatically over the past few years…

How, not too long ago, there wasn’t much that could have convinced me to “waste” a night away from the kids on anything other than dressing up, waiting in line in the snow, taking a few shots (a few too many, that is), and dancing the night away…

It also hit me, that it really doesn’t take much to please me anymore… I’m completely thrilled to throw on a super cute & comfy outfit, crack open a few brewskis, share a laugh, and cozy up to the man I love!

I don’t think I could have picked a more perfect piece to wear for our V Day date night than the absolute cutest, comfiest, and most perfectly fitting, “seduce me with cupcakes” tee from the UK based, Feminine Funk!

To compliment it, a gorgeous statement necklace from Addition Elle, and my good old, red satin blazer.

All that, paired with stunningly embellished Parasuco jeans from Addition Elle, my new, and super funky, black patent flatforms from ASOS, I was all set to spend some quality time with the mister!

So seduce me with cupcakes!!! No need for diamonds or pearls… Come at me with inexplicably bleeding hands and give me a foot rub! (Haha!) And woo me with confections… Because at the end of the day, it’s those little things – life’s simple pleasures (minus the blood) that are the sweetest ones of all!!!

Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Beautiful

IMG_5003.JPG
I’m a very friendly girl. I don’t throw shade. I’m a lover, not a fighter. I avoid confrontation like the plague. I respect even my adversaries, and I don’t seek revenge… But sometimes you need to show your haters how wrong they are.

What I mean to say is… Sometimes a b*tch just needs to get put in her place!!! Haha!

IMG_4999.JPG
And while I am non confrontational by nature, when someone starts thinking that they can hurt me, they need to know that I am laughing in their face!

IMG_5001-0.JPG
They need Screw that! SHE needs to know that she will never be better than me because she has an ugly soul, and while she’s talking karma, she’s the one who karma just came back to bite. 😘 (I almost never use Emojis in my posts, but girl, this one’s for you!)

So don’t hate me because I’m beautiful (yes YOU, I know you’re reading this). Love me, because you tried to be me and failed, and that must mean I’m pretty fantastic. 😋 (Oops, there I go again! Hahaaa!)

You need to love how hot I look in this fabulous midi dress from Zelie For She.

IMG_5117.JPG
Love how crazy dope I look in my earrings from Cristy Ellen K!

IMG_5119.JPG
Love how sexy I look in the the most absolutely amazing plus size anklets ever, from Ready to Stare! (No but seriously, I know you you’re a fat girl too, so you might wanna know… Just tryna help tho!)

IMG_5120.JPG
And love how, no matter how hard you tried to hurt me, no matter what you tried (yes b*tch, TRIED) to take from me, I stayed fresh AF and didn’t even smudge my mascara.

So ladies, don’t ever let anyone try and bring you down!!! Show them how much better you are!!! Rise above it at brush it off… But never be afraid to remind them how ugly their souls truly are, for that is the only way to help them. Let God take care of the karma!

In Haitian Creole we say ‘Wap konn Jòj cherie’ – you’ll get what’s coming to you! Actually, you just did. 😉 (Last one, I promise! Haha!)
