New Year’s Eve Eve

You guysss!!! Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve!!!

So, to commemorate the year gone by, and ring in 2016 in style, I’ll be bringing you three looks over the next three days to celebrate New Years Eve Eve (shut up, it’s a thing), New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day!

As an only child, when I was growing up, the holidays were a particularly joyful time in my life, and not so much because of the presents and the goodies (although, I wasn’t mad at them), but what I really loved the most, was that my mum and I would go stay at my grandparent’s house for Christmas break, and my aunt would drive up from Ontario with my four cousins, to stay too. For two weeks each winter, it was like I was part of a big family, and I always looked so forward to it.

There was no let down after the excitement of Christmas morning died down, because we were all still together, and then of course, once all of those festivities concluded, we still had New Year’s to look forward to!

December 30th was always New Year’s Eve Eve to us, and to me, it always will be. This stunning, winter white Kiyonna dress from SexyPlus captures the purity and innocence of those childhood memories perfectly.

I’ve paired it with the most fantastic rhinestone encrusted clutch from Aldo, and my gorgeous, sparkly silver peep toe, kitten heel pumps, that I designed from Shoes Of Prey.

I’ve topped off the look with the absolute most incredible faux-fur stole from F.O.C. by Flaws Of Couture, which lends a luxurious touch of old world Hollywood glam to this already elegant look.

Although our lives and traditions have evolved, and those childhood memories are just faded old photographs in the albums of my mind, it still makes me smile to think of those two weeks each year, when nothing else mattered but playing with our Christmas presents, drinking Coke floats, building couch cushion forts (much to our grandmother’s chagrin), and planning our upcoming outfits on New Year’s Eve Eve.

Color Me Fearless

Color Me Fearless

Wearing color has long been a somewhat terrifying experience for me… I usually tend to stick mainly to neutrals and very dark shades, which are lovely, timeless and classic but have a certain safety about them that I am often afraid to venture beyond.

So, with 2014 fast approaching, and ideas of resolutions on the tips of everyone’s tongues, I’ve decided on a new years resolution I know I can keep; I WILL CONFRONT MY FEAR OF COLOR!!!

As a matter of fact, why wait till the new year? Why not get started early? And what better way to jump right in than by wearing the whole rainbow all at once? I’ve always said, go big or go home and this gorgeous multi-colored, curve hugging, head turning, envy inducing, covetable piece of wardrobe magic is absolutely the best physical embodiment of the expression!

I have never received so many compliments in my life! My husband (who is Haitian and speaks Creole and French) described the dress as “mal élevé” which directly translates to “rude” or “ill-mannered”, but In the good way; and I couldn’t agree more! This maverick of a cocktail dress, from Monif C, does what it pleases, shows no mercy and the result is epic!

In this fearless frock, paired with a peep-toe, sling back, black patent leather heel (I RARELY wear heels but this dress deserved them) and some simple gold jewelry, I turned heads all night and showed myself that I should be as fearless of color as this dress is of everything in its glorious, rainbow path!

(A shout out to the hubby for looking spiffy, as usual, too!)
