We’re patiently… Err… Impatiently waiting for Spring to act like spring here in a Montreal. It snowed over Easter weekend, and again yesterday, but the sun has been coming out to play here and there, so there’s still hope, I hope…?
Over the course of the next couple of weeks I’ll be taking advantage of this long lost sunshine (when it chooses show itself) to bring you some refreshing Spring looks from SexyPlus Clothing, a Mississauga, Ontario based business, run by the fabulous Stefanie Auguteijn, who is just an absolute dollface!!!
And while springtime is all about sprouting flowers, baby bunnies & (awww, baby bunniiiiiiieees!!!) & such, here in the land of Easter snow, one of the surest signs of Spring is when we finally (ugh, and I mean fi-na-lyyy) ditch our winter coats in lieu of a cozy hoodie.
Like, I’m totally obsessed. I’ve been wearing it all week!!! A great hoodie is the most underrated piece that just about everyone owns, but rarely celebrates; but I’m telling y’all, there is just so much to be excited about as a plus size woman, wearing her body positivity on her sleeve (literally) and flaunting her sexy, self-confidence with pride!
I paired it with my fave Parasuco jeans, and since I was kinda feeling myself that day (ok, like a lot feeling myself), I decided to rock some serious bling!
How cute do my chain anklets from Ready to Stare look with my Coach, canvas slip ons?
So get into spring, loves! Whether it’s actually sprung in your corner of the world, or still a little confused, like in mine. This is the season to get your sexy on, and where better to start, than at SexyPlus!!!

I recently had the pleasure of trying on and giving my thoughts on six pairs of jeans from Penningtons, for a guest post on their blog!
So, since it’s #TBT, I’m throwing it back to last weekend’s post on The Penningtons Blog!
Can you guess which pair of these jeans came home with me? Find out in the original post!!!
Original post, and details: here
So it was Valentine’s Day last weekend. I haven’t really done anything major to celebrate it over the past few years… Sure, there’s always a gift/chocolate/pink/red candy exchange, and I always get a little something for the kiddies… But this year, the hubby and I felt like, you know what!? We should do it big like we used to!!!
Aaaaand then we remembered that we’d rather just wear jeans and drink beer!!!
So, in lieu of a lavish evening of champagne & dancing, we shared a good meal, watched a Canadiens game at a resto-pub (we won too!) and spent a relaxing night at a hotel!
Sure, the place was packed, our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, and my husband somehow managed to cut both of his hands (seriously, both?) unloading our bags from the car (only this guy could be gushing blood within the first five minutes of our date), and sure, he may or may not have snapped at me for laughing at his ridiculous misfortune… But…
It hit me that day, how the things that make me happy have changed pretty dramatically over the past few years…
How, not too long ago, there wasn’t much that could have convinced me to “waste” a night away from the kids on anything other than dressing up, waiting in line in the snow, taking a few shots (a few too many, that is), and dancing the night away…
It also hit me, that it really doesn’t take much to please me anymore… I’m completely thrilled to throw on a super cute & comfy outfit, crack open a few brewskis, share a laugh, and cozy up to the man I love!
I don’t think I could have picked a more perfect piece to wear for our V Day date night than the absolute cutest, comfiest, and most perfectly fitting, “seduce me with cupcakes” tee from the UK based, Feminine Funk!
To compliment it, a gorgeous statement necklace from Addition Elle, and my good old, red satin blazer.
So seduce me with cupcakes!!! No need for diamonds or pearls… Come at me with inexplicably bleeding hands and give me a foot rub! (Haha!) And woo me with confections… Because at the end of the day, it’s those little things – life’s simple pleasures (minus the blood) that are the sweetest ones of all!!!
Capes are a super hot trend this fall, and it’s not hard to see why. They’re comfortable, easy to wear, and come on! They’re capes (!!!), pretty much the coolest articles of clothing any human being can own!!!
I picked up this fabulous geo print cape from Zelie For She over the summer, and I’ve been saving it for the perfect autumn weather like we had over the weekend here in Montreal!
Since it’s a cotton cape, it works equally well over a cami, in lieu of a blazer in warmer weather; but my favorite way to wear it is over a cozy, long sleeved top, like this alligator textured sweater, when it is slightly cooler out.
Paired with some light blue jeggings, black patent pumps for a touch of glam, a stunning, handcrafted African cuff bracelet by La Caverne De Djénéba, and a great pair of sunnies from Forever 21, my cape looked fab and caught the attention of everyone in sight!
Yesterday was the day that I finally decided to debut my Louis Vuitton Speedy 40!!! It felt like bringing a new puppy home from the pet shop. I wanted to show the world to him and show him to the world all at the same time. It was glorious, regardless of the fact that my dry cleaning was stuffed inside… (What!? I had errands to run!!!)
When you’re planning to take the leap and purchase an investment bag, it’s always best to look around, ask questions and compare; after all, you want it to be perfect!
This bag is pure luxury, from the little details of its lock and keys, to its baby soft leather handles. I went with the Speedy because it’s just so iconic, and I decided on the 40cm, because big girl always looks good with a big bag!!!
Since I love mixing classic pieces with trendy ones, I paired it with my fabulous, new Parasuco acid wash jeans from Addition Elle, rolled up for a boyfriend look, and their Love & Legend, dusty mauve, graphic tee, which I sized up on, for an edgy, oversized look.
Well, life has been a bit busy over this past week. It’s funny, because as I type the very words, I’m trying hard to figure out exactly what I’ve been so busy with, and I’m at a loss. It was nothing out of the ordinary, I suppose… Just life. But regardless, until now, haven’t found the time to actually sit down and write – but I’m back! And it’s time to talk about a couple of great new additions to my closet! Yay!
We are seeing a whole lot of denim on denim this spring, and it can be very chic depending on how you work it. Even the hubby is now the proud owner of a denim shirt! But I’m not feeling bold enough to rock it, head to toe, just yet, so, this great, sheer, cream color blouse with denim trim, paired with these fantastic acid wash jeans, (both from Penningtons) which I’ve folded under for a faux cropped appearance, create the perfect compromise! I’ve accessorized with my new Obi leather belt from Igigi, color blocked flats from Payless and a cute cuff bracelet from Forever 21 for a chic, laid-back look that’s perfect for casual Friday!
I had been drooling over all the coated jean styles for a long time, but all the pairs I tried on seemed to have minds of their own; as though they were trying their absolute hardest to accentuate my flaws and be as unflattering as possible, saying “haha, our lustrous sheen will never look good over your fat thighs”.
I had all but given up when I stumbled upon this pair of black coated jeans at Addition Elle. I was reluctant to try them on but as soon as I did, I knew I could rock them.
My immediate instinct was to wear them with a tight fitting top and heels for an evening look, but upon execution I really didn’t like the combination; so I went with a lovely red, black & tan chiffon top that didn’t fit too closely to the body, paired with an adorable black & white printed flat (mixing prints is so fun when it’s done right). I found that these jeans were best suited for a daytime chic look more than anything else.
All I can say is: Cynthia – 1 / Mocking, doubting coated jeans – 0. And… Don’t ever give up on a style that you love just because you think it isn’t right for you – there are ALWAYS options!
