When I was away in Haiti last August, I managed to sneak in one one photo shoot. I never published the pictures, but there’s a reason why…
Everything was perfect—my Monif C. fringed swimsuit, my ASOS sandals, and of course, my Ready To Stare body harness…
But the beach was exquisite, as was my beautiful fat bod in that suit, and honestly, even though I wore it wrong, the chain body harness actually looked pretty amazing this way too!
So, I decided to shoot some fab pics back home in Canada, wearing it the right way this time (Duh!) with a fab Kiyonna dress from SexyPlus Clothing, to show everyone that you can definitely have some fun playing around with body chains! We’ll just keep the fact that this was a totally unintentional discovery between us, though… K?
We can also keep the fact that it took me nearly six months to get around to shooting the second half of this post… Because procrastination is also my thing…
But it all actually worked out, because the contrast between my natural, freckled skin under the golden Haitian sun, and my ultra glam look, set against the backdrop of an icy frozen lake, is truly quite amazing!
And the discovery that this body chain is much more versatile than I had ever expected was a definite bonus!
Sure, I wish I was on a beach in Haiti again right now, after sifting through my vacation photos… But at least I know I have my body chain to add some pizazz to my swimsuits on my next trip, and until then, it can look just as awesome in the snow!

It’s the 16th of the month, and after being on a little break for a couple of months, I am once again ready to get back into the French Curves Challenge – an outfit photo challenge with the French touch, created by the stunning Vanoue, of The Curvy and Curly Closet!
If you don’t speak French, I’ve got you, boo! As always, an English translation will follow, just keep scrolling down!!!
Il est encore le 16 du mois, et après quelques mois de pause, je suis prêt à nouveau à participer au French Curves Challenge – la collaboration entre blogueuses francophones de taille plus avec la touche française, crée par la ravissante Vanoue, de The Curvy and Curly Closet !
The theme this month: THE STATEMENT NECKLACE
A statement necklace has the power to complete any look.
When you wear one, it’s the first thing everyone sees when they look at your outfit, and as the name suggests, they send a very clear message that you’re fabulous, and I don’t care who knows it!!!
This necklace was hand made by Djénéba, an incredibly talented Malian woman who crafts gorgeous jewelry with materials purchased in her home country.
The meticulous craftsmanship of her jewelry is her greatest passion in life, and it’s very evident if you ever have the chance to visit her “cavern” filled to the gills with sparkling beads which she’s gathered, little by little, with each trip home to Mali to visit her family.
I let the necklace be the star of this outfit, and I paired it with a super simple, chic look, but with enough pizzazz to do it justice.
Simple black leggings, and my sheer, asymmetrical, leopard print tunic by Nadia Aboulhosn for Addition Elle are the perfect pieces to compliment this striking accessory!
And in true Nadia style, a pair of heels put the final touch on the look.
Be sure to check out the statement necklaces on all the other French Curvettes here, as well as on Facebook, and Instagram too!!! Also, remember to use the hashtags #FrenchCurvesOOTD and #FlightOfTheFatGirl on all your style pics!!!

Fall is undeniably upon us… And with yesterday’s dusting of snow here in Montreal, one could argue that winter is already poking its head out from around the corner — but Jesus fix it! I’m not ready!!!
So to celebrate all those things I love about fall while it’s still here, the changing colours, cool crisp air, (and duhhh) the sweaters (!!!) I teamed up with Addition Elle, Penningtons, and super babe, Joëlle Vaillancourt, who some of you may know from the show Le Cahier (The Booklet) on MAtv, and we picked out our three fave fall trends!
But that’s not all!!! All the falling leaves have gotten us feeling curious, and a little generous too!
So, we’d like to know YOUR fave fall trend, and if you head over to Instagram to vote, you could be eligible* to win our #CurvyFatGiveaway of a fab fall shopping spree of $150 from Addition Elle and $100 from Penningtons!
#1 is not only a fall fave of ours, but it is also 2015’s Pantone colour of the year — Marsala!
#2 is evvverywhere right now — Suede! And it is without question, a big part of every fashionistas fall wardrobe this year, and we love it too!!!
Wear it as the perfect base to an all black, date night look, like I’ve done with these gorgeous faux-suede leggings from Penningtons, for a luxurious, richly textured look that will be sure to add depth to any outfit…
Or as a standout piece, like Joëlle has done with this amazing faux-suede, camel coloured skirt from Addition Elle, for a striking look, rich texture and quirky elegance…
No matter how you wear it, suede definitely brings a lot to the table, and we’re hoping this trend will stick around well though spring so we can continue to have fun with it!
#3 is last but not least, and probably my fave of all — 70s! This trend is reappearing once more, but this time with a very sophisticated elegance about it!
You can rock an empowering androgynous 70s look, like I’ve done with these amazing plaid pants, and printed blouse with elongated cuffs from Penningtons, paired with a long, sleek necklace, and a fantastic faux-fur collared wool trench from Addition Elle, for a look that’s a combination of Eric Foreman and Donna Pinciotti all in one! (If you don’t get that reference, we can’t be friends — just kidding, but it’s on Netflix so go watch… Now!)
You can also do 70s glam, like Joëlle, and rock a great pair of wide leg jeans, like these ones from Penningtons, with a sexy, bell-sleeved top, like this lace crop, and beaded crocheted choker from Addition Elle. Bring on those disco nights!!!
As you can see, the 70s may be a bygone era, but they’re still alive and well in fashion this fall!!!
So, which will it be? Be sure to head over to Instagram to vote on your fave once a day, and follow all the entry rules* for a chance to win a fab fall shopping spree, courtesy of Joëlle, moi, and our amazing sponsors, Addition Elle and Penningtons!
The winning look, and of course, the winner of the giveaway will be announced on October 30th, so keep an eye out!!!

So it was Valentine’s Day last weekend. I haven’t really done anything major to celebrate it over the past few years… Sure, there’s always a gift/chocolate/pink/red candy exchange, and I always get a little something for the kiddies… But this year, the hubby and I felt like, you know what!? We should do it big like we used to!!!
Aaaaand then we remembered that we’d rather just wear jeans and drink beer!!!
So, in lieu of a lavish evening of champagne & dancing, we shared a good meal, watched a Canadiens game at a resto-pub (we won too!) and spent a relaxing night at a hotel!
Sure, the place was packed, our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, and my husband somehow managed to cut both of his hands (seriously, both?) unloading our bags from the car (only this guy could be gushing blood within the first five minutes of our date), and sure, he may or may not have snapped at me for laughing at his ridiculous misfortune… But…
It hit me that day, how the things that make me happy have changed pretty dramatically over the past few years…
How, not too long ago, there wasn’t much that could have convinced me to “waste” a night away from the kids on anything other than dressing up, waiting in line in the snow, taking a few shots (a few too many, that is), and dancing the night away…
It also hit me, that it really doesn’t take much to please me anymore… I’m completely thrilled to throw on a super cute & comfy outfit, crack open a few brewskis, share a laugh, and cozy up to the man I love!
I don’t think I could have picked a more perfect piece to wear for our V Day date night than the absolute cutest, comfiest, and most perfectly fitting, “seduce me with cupcakes” tee from the UK based, Feminine Funk!
To compliment it, a gorgeous statement necklace from Addition Elle, and my good old, red satin blazer.
So seduce me with cupcakes!!! No need for diamonds or pearls… Come at me with inexplicably bleeding hands and give me a foot rub! (Haha!) And woo me with confections… Because at the end of the day, it’s those little things – life’s simple pleasures (minus the blood) that are the sweetest ones of all!!!
It’s been a minute since my last post… Mostly because it’s been too cold to shoot outdoors… But since things aren’t looking up anytime soon with regards to weather for us Montrealers… I decided that a bare-legged minidress was the way to go! That’s right!!! F&@% YOU WINTER!!!
And how does a bad B accessorize a minidress at -36ºC? (That’s -32.8ºF for my American friends.) Why, with a fab blazer by Nicolette Mason for Modcloth, heart shaped sunnies (I see you, Valentine’s Day!), a little LV, and the absolute most beautifully delicate and versatile piece of jewelry out there – the infinity chain, from Canadian based, bstrd.com
I mean, this piece is so badass!!! Not only is it crafted out of gorgeous, high end sterling silver and gold vermeil chain, adorned with precious little bobbles of opal and Swarovski crystal, but it can be worn in a multitude of ways to compliment any outfit for any occasion!
I tried out a a few different styling options with my infinity chain, and I honestly really loved how all of them worked out!
It looks so perfect worn as a full on body chain!
So please do go take a look for yourselves, because there are so many unique styles to choose from at bstrd.com; and although the sizes of body jewelry are listed as one size fits all, custom orders/measurements are welcome, and can be discussed with a quick email to: email@example.com, or in the comments section of your order!
Be sure to follow bstrd on Instagram, @imagineyoudidnt too, for even more styling inspiration and to keep up with what’s new!!!
Well folks, as 2014 comes to a close (just a few hours left) I’ve been reflecting upon a lot if things.
It’s been a year full of surprises, some wonderful some sad.
I decided to start blogging full time, my best friend welcomed her new baby boy into the world, my husband got a promotion at work… And we were shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of my father-in-law, an ocean away in Haiti, without any warning or a chance to say goodbye. (Read about my travels to Haiti here.)
But, all in all, it’s been a fulfilling year and we’ve overcome any hurdles we were faced with, and have come out of it stronger than ever.
Now you know I couldn’t do this post without talking about my year in outfits! I’ve worn SOOO many fab pieces and had such a blast putting looks together and blogging about them! Here are my faves!
I hope you have all had a great year too! Mine wouldn’t have been the same without y’all, and I’m lucky to have you lovelies in my life! I wish each and every one of you a fantastic New Year and I look forward to what 2015 has in store!!!
Regardless of which holidays you celebrate, there is something magical here in Montreal this time of year! The snow-covered rooftops, decorated trees, houses aglow with dazzling multicoloured lights – no one can deny their beauty!
At least for me, there is even something exciting about a crowded shopping mall, or a busy intersection this close to Christmas. I just love seeing everyone rushing about, and wondering where they’re going, who they’re buying that last minute gift basket for, if they are on Santa’s nice list this year, and especially, what they’ll be wearing once they’ve found that train set little Timmy had so wanted, and their flustered, rosy cheeks settle briefly, only to return after a few splendid Christmas cocktails!
What could me a more perfect thing to wear, as I gather with the fam for the first of many celebrations to come this week, than my gorgeous, hunter green, uber fashiony (I know that’s not a word) Monif C. dress!
I paired it with another pair of fab shoes (designed by yours truly) from Shoes of Prey (Have I mentioned how much I love this website?). They’re just the right mix of edginess from the snakeskin, and princessiness (also not a word) from the kitten heel and bows – perfect for a whimsical, festive Christmassy look!
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!!!
That WAS the question…
Whether you call them sneakers, trainers, or runners/running shoes (I’m looking at you, my fellow Canadians!) I have never really been a ‘sneakers’ kinda girl. Besides the fact that I hate closed in shoes, not to mention, my disdain for wearing socks, I’ve never found a pair that felt like, well… Me… Until I stumbled upon these Nike Roshe Run Sneakerboots, in none other than, the men’s section on ASOS.com.
Here’s a quick shoe size conversion table which may come in handy if, like me, you ever find yourself enamoured with a men’s shoe that you just can’t live without:
Sneakers, Asos – here
Some plus size things are harder to find than others; and when it comes to body jewelry, it can be next to impossible to find something to fit our frames – or so I thought, until I discovered Canadian jewelry designer, Cristy Ellen K!!!
Not only is the body positive philosophy of Cristy Ellen K inspiring, but her pieces are just so freaking cool!!!
Wearing it brought out my inner glam-rocker chick, so I slapped on some winged liner (more like, very carefully applied, trying super hard not to screw up) and paired it with my favourite (my only) jumpsuit & denim jacket, from ASOS Curve, some cute black & gold flats, and a pale grey, vintage leather clutch, for a edgy look that made me feel so fierce that I’m actually a little embarrassed to admit how many pics I was giving my resting bitch face (AKA the stink eye) in. Hahaaa!
So check out Cristy Ellen K and see all the fab pieces she has to offer, and keep your eyes open for more of her pieces here on the blog!
So you can imagine how cool it was popping into Voluptuous Clothing while I was in Toronto recently, and having the privilege of meeting the VoluotuousClothing.com CEO, Angela, who just happens to be a fabulous, sky-high heel wearing lady whom you just can’t help but admire!
I had ordered a cute, plaid bodycon dress from Voluptuous not too long ago, which I’m sure many of you will remember from my blog post, and I adored it so much that I knew I couldn’t leave the store empty handed!
I fell in love with this super chic, black & white knit, BB Dakota dress as soon as I saw it!
With its classic pattern and weighty fabric, wearing it feels like pure luxury!
It’s literally so comfortable I could have worn it to bed as pyjamas, and gotten up and kept on wearing it again the next day!
I’ve added a great belt, nude flats, and a fancy, fringed kimono from Ashley Stewart, topped off with a handcrafted, beaded necklace, a sassy ring, and the perfect faux fur clutch from Aldo, for a chic look with an elegant playful touch that combines class and comfort, effortlessly.
