I’ve worn a tutu before. I own a pretty, light pink one, and it’s very much adorable, but I’ve always felt that it lacked a little drama for those times when I really wanted to slay.
So, while scrolling through my newsfeed one day, I happened upon a post from Mo Handahu, better known to most of you as the fabulous, Halifax based life & style blogger/designer/spectacular sunglasses aficionado, Lion Hunter.
She is just the epitome of cool, and takes the word chic to a whole new level with her consistently epic print mixing, and awe-inspiring accessories, so her posts always jump right off my screen, begging to be admired.
In this particular one, she was wearing a vibrant blue tutu, a colour that struck me as uncommon as far as these puffy tulle skirts go.
I soon discovered that not only was she wearing it five different ways with that flawless pizazz that only she can pull off (which is impressive in its own right), but she had hand crafted it herself as part of a lookbook for her own line, called “The Tutu Experience.” (Whaaaaaaaa!? No wayyyyyy, right!?)
So, I guess you can imagine my excitement upon finding out that not only could I now own one of Lion Hunter’s gorgeous tutus, but I could also have a chance to touch a piece of her, now somehow tangible, greatness!!!
There were so many colour choices, and it was tough to make a decision, but I had always wanted a brown tutu. So after giving some measurements, and a special request or two, a few clicks later my tutu order was sent!
I paired it with a cute leopard crop top from Rebdolls, because after all, I couldn’t wear a piece from Mo without paying homage to her by wearing at least one print!
I accessorized with some fierce, (albeit wickedly uncomfortable) cobalt blue pumps (probably my last attempt at heels ever) by Christian Siriano for Payless, a handmade Malian bronze & bead necklace, and topped it all off with my trusty yellow Ted Baker springbok hide clutch, for an edgy, vibrant touch.
I definitely turned heads in my tutu, between its rich brown colour, striking design, and the wind that kept blowing it up and showing off the goodies; and I can officially say this tutu experience was glorious!!!

Because every woman needs a Little Black Dress!
No woman’s wardrobe is quite complete without the perfect little black dress. Many of us even have a whole section of our closets devoted solely to this fashionista’s staple, in all fabrics, styles, and silhouettes!
Oddly enough though, considering all the clothes I have, (which is way more than I need because, #shoppingproblems) I only have three! One is a glitzy sequins number, and the other two are both very simple T-shirt dresses.
T-shirt dresses are my faves because they are just such effortlessly versatile pieces! It never ceases to amaze me how one can be worn as a baggy oversized tee, with belt & a pair of jeans, yet can still be dressed up to create an uber classy, elegant look that nobody would believe was formed around the likes of a glorified T-shirt.
I’ve paired my ASOS Curve LB T-shirt D (Hehee!) with thee absolute most luxurious feather bolero from Addition Elle, faux-fur beanie from ASOS, faux-fur muff from TionDesign and my gorgeous shoes (designed by moi) from Shoes of Prey.
I topped the look off with a fab, old Hollywood style bib necklace and earrings from Forever 21 for a decadent, Art Deco inspired holiday look that lacks in neither comfort, style nor practicality… Okay, it totally lacks in practicality, but how adorable do I look!?
And Just in case you can’t tell, there was a serious blizzard happening here in Montreal during this shoot!

Whether icy pastels, like my last look, sparkles & baubles, or classic silhouettes are you thing, over the next few weeks, I am here for all if it!
Glamour and class are the name of the game this time of year, and this stunning black & gold, floral brocade midi skirt from JIBRI is the epitome of holiday elegance!
Its chic, structured shape will keep you looking graceful and sophisticated throughout any Christmas or New Year’s celebration (no matter how many champagne cocktails you may have) especially paired with simple cream coloured pieces like this smart, high neck crop top from Girl With Curves (as seen previously in my post “Crimped Hair and Side Belly“) and a fab coat!
It was as if Mother Nature could feel my pain this morning, as I looked out the window, only to see that the rain was pouring down with reckless abandon.
I had my outfit of the day all picked out since last night. Talk about disappointment. I’ve been waiting to rock an all white look, and wear this stunning cotton maxi skirt and matching crop top from JIBRI for so long, and as I looked through the window, I quickly realized the weather was not cooperating.
White cotton + Rain = Bad news.
But like I mentioned before, Mother Nature must be a fashionista herself, and know the anguish of having to put off wearing a fabulous outfit due to rain; because just as I had given up all hope on wearing these beautiful pieces today, the sun came out to play!!!
As I posed for photos, I felt like a goddess, draped in luxurious flowing cotton, blowing breeze. I felt natural and peaceful, and everything about was just right.
I haven’t fallen so in love with an outfit in a while, and I’m just going to come out and say it – I’m sorry for the pic overload, but I had a difficult time choosing between shots!!! I literally looked good in every picture… Like, whaaaaa!?!? That never happens! Why can’t it always be this easy to look gorgeous? Ha.
No, but seriously, when you’re wearing quality garments that drape beautifully and hang well, like this set from JIBRI, it’s hard not to look like a million bucks!
This was my first purchase from them, and will most certainly not be my last!!! I can’t wait to add more of their finely crafted pieces to my collection!
