When I was away in Haiti last August, I managed to sneak in one one photo shoot. I never published the pictures, but there’s a reason why…
Everything was perfect—my Monif C. fringed swimsuit, my ASOS sandals, and of course, my Ready To Stare body harness…
But the beach was exquisite, as was my beautiful fat bod in that suit, and honestly, even though I wore it wrong, the chain body harness actually looked pretty amazing this way too!
So, I decided to shoot some fab pics back home in Canada, wearing it the right way this time (Duh!) with a fab Kiyonna dress from SexyPlus Clothing, to show everyone that you can definitely have some fun playing around with body chains! We’ll just keep the fact that this was a totally unintentional discovery between us, though… K?
We can also keep the fact that it took me nearly six months to get around to shooting the second half of this post… Because procrastination is also my thing…
But it all actually worked out, because the contrast between my natural, freckled skin under the golden Haitian sun, and my ultra glam look, set against the backdrop of an icy frozen lake, is truly quite amazing!
And the discovery that this body chain is much more versatile than I had ever expected was a definite bonus!
Sure, I wish I was on a beach in Haiti again right now, after sifting through my vacation photos… But at least I know I have my body chain to add some pizazz to my swimsuits on my next trip, and until then, it can look just as awesome in the snow!

I’ve always loved vintage clothing; and there are so many treasures to be found in thrift stores, but stumbling upon great pieces that fit, especially when you’re plus sized, can be tricky.
When I discovered online thrifting for the first time recently (have I been living under a rock?) it was a real breath of fresh air. No more sifting through racks in search of gold amongst the pebbles… It was all right there in front of me, just a click away at divaXpress!
With sizes ranging from small to 3X, as well as accessories and shoes, divaXpress is my new favourite way to thrift!
I was lucky enough to be able to pick out three pieces, and I fell in love with them!!
The first was this fabulous, hunter green coat, reminiscent of every Canadian girl’s mum’s winter getup in the 90s.
Next, was this totally incredible, sequins covered, beaded, rhinestone bedazzled jean jacket, that somehow reminded me of something out of a tacky, old-school country music video, yet I just couldn’t live without! I mean… It’s so awesome!
Loving how well it pairs with my thigh-high boots from SexyPlus, too… Especially a foot deep in the snow! Hehee!
Remember, you need to act fast when you find something you love, because just like with regular thrifting, when it comes to the online variety, the good stuff sells quickly! New pieces are usually posted daily, so there is always something new to check out! Happy online thrifting!!!

It’s officially thanksgiving weekend and I’ve been trying to get this post out all week, I swear!!!
First, the day I was supposed to do my shoot, my bestie gave birth to a beautiful baby boy (Yay!!!) annnd then I dropped my phone in the bathtub while attempting to shave my legs and binge watch Vampire Diaries at the same time (Damn you, Damon!!!). So, just add those to my list of excuses for why I don’t get posts out on time… *sigh*
Aaaaanyway, I’m super excited to finally show off this fabulous, pixelated plaid, bodycon from Toronto based, Voluptuous Clothing!!! I first saw it, worn to perfection by the stunning Fluvia Lacerda, and featured on the cover of the Fall Fashion issue of DARE Mag and fell in love! It’s the absolute perfect autumn dress, with a classic, curve hugging silhouette and this fall’s hot plaid trend, which I just can’t get enough of!
I’ve paired it with these incredibly cool, wide calf, thigh high boots from SexyPlus Clothing (Yasss!!!), another Canadian owned business (Whoop whoop!!!) and this stunning leather and bronze, handcrafted, African statement necklace, by Montreal Jewelry Designer, Djénéba Daou, for a chic fall look that works for anything from work, to turkey dinner with the fam!!!
We’ve all got at least one, right, ladies? Haters. In life, there will always be those people who just can’t handle your success, your desirability and your confidence; and there’s only one thing we can really say to them:
YOU’RE JUST JEALOUS
And that’s what it all boils down to – jealousy. They want what you’ve got and hate you for having it. But here’s a little reminder; and I am quoting myself on this one… Be kind to your haters, ladies!!! They’re just feeling threatened, and I can only imagine why! A sexy, confident woman can be a very scary thing to a person who is feeling inferior. The best thing you can do is to help them learn to love themselves. Their fear only exists because they think they aren’t as beautiful, as important, or worthy as you are, of being loved.
So, today, in honor of my haters, (they know who they are, even if I don’t) I am rocking this awesomely honest, graphic tee from Forever 21+, super comfy, black cotton leggings from Addition Elle, and these fab clear boots from boohoo.com that I’ve been unhealthily obsessing over for a while now.
And in parting, I will leave you with these final words of wisdom:
I SO love the idea of an unexpected color boot as we transition from winter to spring. When it comes to footwear, especially boots, I find most people tend to play it a little safe in the color department (myself included, most of the time). We stick to the basics – black, brown, and tan. But why not put a little spring in your step?
Try something different and rock a funky purple, a bright turquoise or even a sassy animal print! For this look, like I’ve paired a great pair of jeggings with these fantastic teal suede, western style boots from Call It Spring, and chose a top that totally clashes with them to really draw attention to their rich, teal color. I’ve selected a delicate, seafoam green, braided belt that plays on the color of the boots just enough to pull everything together for a cool, laid back look that makes my transition into spring look effortless!
