It’s the last day of spring break here in Montreal (even though, technically it’s not spring yet and still looks and feels like the dead of winter) and I am SO over all this snow… Like… O.V.E.R. I.T.
But, since there’s not much else I can do (besides complain, and curse the part of the world in which I live) I’m doing the next best thing… Going into complete denial. Ha!!!
In my mind, at least for today, spring is sprung, the grass is riz… And the birdies… The birdies, you ask…? I’m pretty sure they’ve mostly all frozen to death, but, there are probably still a few out there… Somewhere.
So here I is – bare-legged and feeling fierce, decked out in the most amazing floral shift dress from ASOS CURVE!
I’ve paired it with some pretty pearl studs going all the way up my ears, and a simple, nude, beaded necklace from Walmart, for an edgy, granny chic look, which, let’s be honest, is perfectly topped off by my pastel purple hair!
And who cares that I completely destroyed my favorite flats!? (Actually I do… Why did I wear these in the snow? Gahhh!!!)

Because every woman needs a Little Black Dress!
No woman’s wardrobe is quite complete without the perfect little black dress. Many of us even have a whole section of our closets devoted solely to this fashionista’s staple, in all fabrics, styles, and silhouettes!
Oddly enough though, considering all the clothes I have, (which is way more than I need because, #shoppingproblems) I only have three! One is a glitzy sequins number, and the other two are both very simple T-shirt dresses.
T-shirt dresses are my faves because they are just such effortlessly versatile pieces! It never ceases to amaze me how one can be worn as a baggy oversized tee, with belt & a pair of jeans, yet can still be dressed up to create an uber classy, elegant look that nobody would believe was formed around the likes of a glorified T-shirt.
I’ve paired my ASOS Curve LB T-shirt D (Hehee!) with thee absolute most luxurious feather bolero from Addition Elle, faux-fur beanie from ASOS, faux-fur muff from TionDesign and my gorgeous shoes (designed by moi) from Shoes of Prey.
I topped the look off with a fab, old Hollywood style bib necklace and earrings from Forever 21 for a decadent, Art Deco inspired holiday look that lacks in neither comfort, style nor practicality… Okay, it totally lacks in practicality, but how adorable do I look!?
And Just in case you can’t tell, there was a serious blizzard happening here in Montreal during this shoot!

Some plus size things are harder to find than others; and when it comes to body jewelry, it can be next to impossible to find something to fit our frames – or so I thought, until I discovered Canadian jewelry designer, Cristy Ellen K!!!
Not only is the body positive philosophy of Cristy Ellen K inspiring, but her pieces are just so freaking cool!!!
Wearing it brought out my inner glam-rocker chick, so I slapped on some winged liner (more like, very carefully applied, trying super hard not to screw up) and paired it with my favourite (my only) jumpsuit & denim jacket, from ASOS Curve, some cute black & gold flats, and a pale grey, vintage leather clutch, for a edgy look that made me feel so fierce that I’m actually a little embarrassed to admit how many pics I was giving my resting bitch face (AKA the stink eye) in. Hahaaa!
So check out Cristy Ellen K and see all the fab pieces she has to offer, and keep your eyes open for more of her pieces here on the blog!
Blah… Another Monday. I suppose I should be happy I’m alive, that my family is healthy and comfortable, and that and that I was able to send my husband off to work, and my kids off to school with full bellies and full lunchboxes – which, don’t get me wrong – I am; but that doesn’t change the fact that the weekend was too short, the hubby was in a bad mood through most of it, and that mommy may have had a few glasses of wine last night and would prefer to stay in bed rather than make anyone a stupid tuna fish sandwich!!! Sorry. I needed to vent.
But alas, here I am, dressed and coiffed, with slight tuna breath, (I wasn’t about to waste the leftovers) and an even stinkier attitude. The silver lining to this dark Monday cloud – I look cute, though! Ha.
I figured, since it’s a little too early to be making magaritas out of my Monday morning lemons, (is it really, though?) I may as well turn my bitterness around with a great outfit! I often don’t put much effort into my appearance when I’m feeling like this, but since I have no choice but to be out and about, I’m making the best of it by sporting a couple of new acquisitions.
I had been drooling over this quilted denim bomber from ASOS Curve for a while, and when it finally went on sale, I snatched it up. I’ve paired it with a gorgeous nude, sequin tank by Love & Legend, that I’ve had for a while, a new black skirt from Forever 21+, taupe, t-strap flats, also from Forever 21, and a snazzy pair of rose gold statement earrings to complete the look.
I really enjoy mixing styles, and the dressy, sequin tank top, and skirt put together with the super casual denim bomber and flats just balance each other out so perfectly. And, balance is really the key to fashion; but it doesn’t end there. Life in general, requires a certain balance in order to run smoothly and not drive us crazy; and on days like this, finding that balance – that silver lining, is the only way to get out of the funk we are in (whether it’s justified or not) and realize that the sun is shining, and that the day is going to be okay.
Now, all I need is to make it out the door without my three-year-old wiping snot (or poop) on my skirt and I’ll be able to keep my nasty attitude in check…
